The Liberty University Technology & Engineering Club seeks to facilitate professional, academic, and personal growth by career effectiveness through the exploration of modern software development, engineering, design, and industry best practices.
The Liberty University Technology & Engineering Club, advised by the Chair of Computer Science, is an official, student led club that was formed on the basis example based learning with a mission to foster leadership and teach real world technologies in a fun, code-along, workshop based format.
During the school year, we host weekly workshops in which students code along in various languages, frameworks, and development methodologies. We develop real apps, both front-end and back-end, that demonstrate these technologies in ways the supplement often highly theoretical and memory-based classes.
From Cloud Technologies to Discord bots, to Facial Recognition, our goal is to go beyond textbook assignments and give students the freedom, resources, and best possible pre-career experience that will build these essential skills and stoke a passion for creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
Here are a few of the projects and workshops we've worked on...
Using Python, AWS Polly, and NLTK, we built a tool to turn any text document into hyper-realistic, AI-assisted spoken word.
With support from the Liberty's Center for Financial Literacy, we built a student loan calculator with Vue.js, and Node.js
Using Python and OpenCV, we taught students the fundamentals for detection vs. recognition, and practical ways that Computer Vision can be used.
